Each cancer experience is different for each person, but in one way or another, many cancer patients share the same needs.
The American Cancer Society states that more than 8.9 million Americans alive today have faced a diagnosis of cancer. Some of them are newly diagnosed or are undergoing treatment, while others are in remission or are considered cured.
Because no two people with cancer are alike and no two friends or family members are alike, each person has his or her own way of coping with cancer. Life Raft Group members have been sharing their thoughts and feelings about coping with cancer in each of the Life Raft Group monthly Newsletters as well as on this Website.
In addition, you can learn how some people facing various kind of cancers (not GIST per se), have dealt with their feelings and their individual situations on the American Cancer Society website
www.cancer.org. Several people have shared their experience because they believe it can be helpful to hear from those who have been in a similar situation.
